More than 28 years industry experience, both as a corporate Information Technology specialist and an independent consultant. As a corporate analyst has played critical roles in all phases of the systems development life cycle. Background includes extensive OS/VS & COBOL II  development experience, extensive  MVS/OS390 JCL experience, over ten years IMS DB/DC applications development, 20+ years experience on Intel-based microcomputer platforms including three years of PC applications development work using Microsoft C; 18 years UNIX/Linux installation and support experience; C UNIX sockets (TCP/IP) programming experience; two years DB2 experience; IBM MQSeries and Interlink TCPaccess exposure.

Virtualization experience includes extensive VMware workstation use beginning with first public beta release, and VMware server since first public beta release of GSX server, through VMware server version 1.0.6.

As an independent IT consultant, has focused on the delivery of cost-effective solutions to area businesses, with an emphasis on Open Source/GPL software, including Linux, Samba, Apache web server, The Linux Terminal Server Project and TCP/IP and related Internet technologies.  Recent projects have included internet broadband connectivity, including firewalling technologies to protect the internal network against malicious intruders, VPN technologies connecting remote offices with encrypted connections, and website design and programming using HTML and Apache web server installation, setup, and administration. The unfortunate proliferation of malicious software and services on the internet has also necessitated extensive virus, trojan, adware and spyware removal and protection experience.

Nov. 1993 to Mar. 1998: SPRINT Local Telecommunications Division, Kansas City

CLAS (Customer Loop Assignment System) - Aug. 27, 1997 to Mar. 10, 1998 - CLAS/SIG (Street Index Guide) Year2000 Technical Coordinator. Worked with outside vendor to assess the CLAS/SIG systems for Year2000 compliance.

CASS (Carrier Access Subscriber System) - April 21 to Aug. 26, 1997 - Worked on project modifying online DB2 system to accommodate local telephone service competition.

CARE (Customer Account Record Exchange) Aug. 1994 to Feb. 14, 1997 - a Sprint LTD (Local Telecommunications Division) team dealing with customer information exchange between Sprint LTD and the long distance carriers. Last project involved using IBM's MQSeries to send data from an MVS on-line system to UNIX machines on a TCP/IP network. Typically worked from user requirements to help develop TRS (Total Requirements Summary) using MS-Word, then worked from the TRS to develop the detail design. Duties include design, development, testing and implementation of significant portions of several CARE team projects using a combination of such tools as ISPF, Xpediter, File-Aid and IMS-Xpert. Frequently called upon to replace departed staff on projects nearing deadline and go from design through code and test to implementation stage on short notice.

CRB (Customer Record and Billing System) - Nov. 1993 to Aug. 1994 - including portions of the Centel (a local telephone service provider operating throughout the US, purchased by Sprint in 1992) Customer Record and Billing System conversion. The design and development methodology used in CRB is the same as that used on the CARE team, as related above.
